Careers are still handed out by proximity — who you know, where you grew up, what your parents do. Equity House builds the companies that replace that with something anyone can reach.

Why we exist
The forgotten middle.
Almost every government announcement and youth programme is built around a box: at risk of knife crime, NEET, SEND, poor mental health. Those young people need support, and we are firmly behind it.
But the biggest group we meet doesn't tick any of those boxes. They're in college or a zero-hours job, they've got a few GCSEs, they're not in trouble, and on paper they're "fine". In reality they're anxious and stuck, with no network and no one around them who has done what they want to do.
They don't trigger a referral, so no service is designed for them, and after 18 they fall outside most support completely. That group is now our sole focus.

I didn't have a network. I had to build one, and then I realised most people never get the chance to. That is the whole reason this house exists.

Opportunity is distributed, access is not
Talent shows up everywhere. Introductions, advice and second chances do not. We build the parts of a career that are usually inherited.
Free at the point of use
Young people are never charged for what we build for them. Partners fund it, so cost never decides who gets help.
Build companies, not campaigns
Awareness fades. Products compound. Everything in the house has to work as a real business so it can keep running.
Scale is the point
One billion people is not a slogan. It is the number that forces us to build things that work without us in the room.
