Responsible AI and technology
How we use AI in products and internally, with human accountability for outcomes.
- Head of Technology
- Twice yearly
Our commitment
We use AI where it genuinely helps people find jobs, manage money or stay healthy, and not where it quietly replaces judgement that should be human. A person remains accountable for every decision that affects someone's opportunity.
Our rules
- No fully automated decision that materially affects a person's employment, pay or access to a programme
- Personal or confidential data is never entered into consumer AI tools
- AI-generated content is checked by a person before publication
- Material AI involvement in published content is disclosed
- Models and prompts used in products are documented, with a named owner
- Outputs are tested for bias against protected characteristics before launch
Transparency to users
Where a user is interacting with an AI feature, we say so, explain what it does with their input, and give them a way to reach a person instead.
Governance and review
This policy is owned by the Head of Technology and approved by the board. It is reviewed at least annually, and sooner if the law, our operations or our risk profile changes.
